FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County was recognized with the highest achievement in governmental budgeting for the second year in a row.
The county received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for the county's 2014 budget book.
This is the second consecutive year the county received this award, which is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement.
In order to receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan and as a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
"We are certainly proud that the Forsyth County Budget Presentation has been recognized with this award," said David Gruen, director of finance. "Receipt of this award again this year reflects Forsyth County's continuing commitment to financial transparency and to making quality financial information accessible to our citizens."
