Sons of the American Revolution unveil flag receptacle

June 11, 2014
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Robert Forsyth Chapter Sons of the American Revolution will hold two events on Saturday, June 14.

The first is a Flag Retirement Ceremony to be held at 8 a.m. at the Ingram Funeral Home in Cumming.

The public is invited to bring their old U.S. flags for proper retirement.

The second event is a flag receptacle unveiling at 10 a.m. to be held in the Cumming Home Depot parking lot.

The Robert Forsyth Chapter of the SAR formed a partnership with the Martha Stewart Bulloch Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Boy Scout Troop 1099 and Home Depot to pilot their flag receptacle project.

The receptacle will be placed inside the Cumming Home Depot store to collect old U.S. flags. Customers that bring in an old flag will be offered discounts on the purchase of a new U.S. flag.
