April 21, 2014ATLANTA — While many spent the day in line at the post office, filing online or finishing other last-minute tax details, one Marietta family spent Tax Day celebrating the birth of their son, David Reese, who was born at 1:02 a.m. at Northside Hospital in Atlanta.
The baby, born to David and Michelle McGinnis, was recognized as the Path2College 529 Plan Tax Day baby and awarded $1,529 for his college savings from Georgia's Path2College 529 Plan.
"College is very important, especially these days, and every dollar helps," said David McGinnis. "We were not expecting this, but are very happy to give him a head start for college."
Path2College officially kicked-off its annual statewide Newborn Sweepstakes on Tax Day, where one baby born in Georgia this year will receive $5,529 toward his/her college savings.
The hospital where the baby is born will also receive $1,529.
Parents, grandparents and guardians of Georgia babies born in 2014 may go to www.Path2College529.com until April 14, 2015, for official rules and to enter for a chance to win the Newborn Sweepstakes.
