ALPHARETTA, Ga. — The Alpharetta Historical Society's March meeting will be held on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. at the Mansell House and Gardens.

The meeting will highlight the program "Is Georgia the New Hollywood?" presented by Alpharetta Historical Society member Jake Jacobson.

The program will feature movies beginning from the days of silent pictures to more modern films that used the state as a back drop to tell their stories.

Jacobson will entertain and inform attendees with clips from movies that were filmed in Georgia at the meeting.

He will also be telling behind-the-scenes information about the featured films.

Jacobson is a member of the Alpharetta Historical Society and is very knowledgeable about the movie industry.

The Alpharetta Historical Society is a nonprofit organization governed by the state of Georgia that exists to "preserve the past, in the present, for the future."

The Mansell House and Gardens are managed by the historical society and are located at 1835 Old Milton Parkway, Alpharetta.
