FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Forsyth County Public Library is announced that all four of the library branches will offer expanded operating hours beginning Jan. 5.
The hour changes were made possible by a funding increase from the Forsyth County Board of Commissioners. The Cumming branch, Post Road branch, and Sharon Forks Libraries will be open until 8:30 p.m. three nights a week rather than two, and the Hampton Park Library will be open until 8:30 p.m. a second night a week.
In addition, the Hampton Park Library will open at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays rather than 1 p.m.
Prior to 2010, the library's two branches at the time were open until 8:30 p.m. four evenings a week.
In January of that year, open hours were decreased at the Cumming and Sharon Forks Libraries in order to help provide enough staffing to open the Hampton Park Library.
In May 2011, the library was able to restore some of the hours that had been cut.
All branches were open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and the Cumming and Sharon Forks Libraries opened at 10 a.m. on Tuesdays.
When the Post Road Library opened in August 2013, its hours were similar to those of the Cumming and Sharon Forks Libraries.
All four library locations will continue to be open seven days a week and the extended hours will allow for more community interaction.
