Manning Oaks Elementary gets into the holiday spirit with a pumpkin parade

October 30, 2013
ALPHARETTA, Ga. Manning Oaks Elementary School in Alpharetta just held their third annual pumpkin decorating contest. Each class was given a pumpkin to decorate as a book character. The Kroger located on Windward Parkway donated more than $50 worth of pumpkins for the event.

The decorated pumpkins were displayed in the school media center where the teachers voted on their favorite book characters. The third-grade classes took first place with their "Wizard of Oz" character pumpkins. They included Dorothy, Glenda, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West in their winning pumpkin collection.

All the pumpkins will be on display at Z-Pizza on Windward Parkway from Oct. 17 to Oct. 24
