FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – There will be plenty of woofin' and hoofin' as the third annual Mutts and More Festival takes place at Fowler Park in Cumming from noon to 6 p.m. on May 19.
This all-day event features many activities families can share with their pets to help raise money for the Humane Society of Forsyth County.
"It's one of our big money raisers for the year because we are a nonprofit, and this helps with all of our animals," said Barbara Butcher, volunteer worker and food vendor coordinator for the event. "Every year, we look forward to it."
Mutts and More Festival kicks off the day with a 1.5-mile "Mutt and Strutt" walk. Pet owners can sign up online to leash their dogs and carry their cats to gain sponsors.
Other activities include a doggie fashion show, pet adoptions and a Frisbee contest for particularly skilled pooches. There will also be bouncy houses and a duck pool for children. Food vendors are a new addition this year.
Last year, the festival had about 10,000 people attend. This year will be even bigger, Butcher said.
