May 07, 2013ROSWELL, Ga. – Morgan Rodgers, mild-mannered recreation and parks administrator by day, is a locally celebrated author by night.
Rodgers has finished his third book in the past four years, "Past Sins," a sequel to his last novel, "Timing…The Key to Life." The book will launch May 17 with a book signing at Slope's BBQ in Roswell.
"Past Sins" continues the story of the characters introduced in "Timing." The book takes the familiar characters and showcases their stories in different locations and landmarks throughout Roswell that should feel familiar to anyone who has spent time in or around Roswell.
"I'm a Roswell man," Rodgers said. "I love this city. I can't think of a better place to live than Roswell. This whole book stays in Roswell. People who read it in Roswell know the places and streets."
Anyone who has visited Slope's BBQ, Lucky's Burger and Brew, Roswell Area Park and Leita Thompson Memorial Park will feel right at home with "Past Sins."
Rodgers said the new book was harder to write than his first one.
"The second time you do something, you want to improve the process," Rodgers said. "It was more difficult [than the first book]. It was tougher but more fun."
He spent about a year writing this novel.
"If people enjoyed the first book, they will enjoy the second one," he said.
Rodgers will unveil "Past Sins" May 17 at Slope's BBQ on East Crossville Road in Roswell. He will sign books from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
