FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — In their first time on the world stage, Lambert High School's indoor drumline earned bronze at this year's Winter Guard International (WGI).

Every year, thousands of percussionists arrive in Dayton, Ohio, to compete in the world championships of percussion held April 18 through April 20.

Lambert's ensemble performed "Superfly," depicting the life and dangers of being a fly, to the amazement of judges and audience members in preliminary, semifinals and finals performances against 61 other groups in their class.

The ensemble earned a score of 95.525 in their finals run, the highest score ever earned by a Georgia school percussion ensemble.

This is also the first time since 2008 that a Georgia school has earned a medal at the WGI Percussion Championships.

Lambert's indoor drumline is directed by Tonya Mashburn and Eric Brown and is a part of the Lambert High School Stampede Band program, led by Scott McCloy.

In March, the Stampede marching band was invited to participate in the New Year's Day Parade and Festival in London on Jan. 1, 2015.
