May 06, 2013FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — The Villas at Canterfield, an independent senior housing community, will sponsor an upcoming Habitat for Humanity house off of Daves Creek Road in Cumming.
Construction on the home is scheduled to start in June and finish in August.
The home will be purchased by a family from the Forsyth community who will work alongside volunteers helping to construct the house.
"Habitat for Humanity is such a wonderful program, and being new to the Forsyth area, we wanted to do something not only significant for the Cumming community but also significant to our Canterfield residents." said Win Porter, founder of the Villas at Canterfield. "Some of our residents intend to saw and hammer nails, paint or just be there for volunteer support. We hope to give back to our residents the ability to give as they once may have done in their youth and make them feel really good about themselves."
The Villas at Canterfield will donate a portion of the funding for the Habitat home.
