April 19, 2013JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Morris Fitness Wrestling (MFW), located off Tidwell Road in Alpharetta, took over the Georgia Kids' State Wrestling Tournament.
For the past two weekends, young wrestlers across the state met to compete for the chance to be a state champion.
MFW had 43 out of 55 team members qualify to compete at the state competition.
Of these young wrestlers, 14 placed at state receiving a medal for their competitive efforts and excellence.
In addition, MFW attained 36 wrestling pins, by far the most pins out of all the 140 teams attending the tournament.
Overall, Morris Fitness Wrestling was the top competitor at the 8U and 10U divisions, placing first in both age groups.
The team earned 405.5 points total, placing fourth overall in team points.
Head coach Charlie Morris is proud of his young team's achievement and is looking forward to expanding on their growth and development to see even more of his team on next year's podium.
