MILTON, Ga. —Recently, battalion chiefs Roth Hutcheson and Jason Baswell spent seven days at the Maryland Fire Institute with more than 60 other chief officers from around the country learning new concepts in fire service management, leadership and administration.
This program is designed to assist fire officers in modern concepts of emergency management, transformational leadership, fire-based EMS, budgeting and more.
"I was told before leaving that this training will fire you up," said Hutcheson. "And it did."
Hutcheson said talking with other fire officers from across the country revealed they all face the same challenges.
"To have instructors who had found a way to confront those issues proved priceless," he said.
Fire Chief Robert Edgar said his department is fortunate to be able to send officers to the prestigious training.
"The payback is having informed and educated leadership in the fire department, which translates to better service to the community," he said.
