April 09, 2013FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Change 4 Georgia, Forsyth County-based community service program dedicated to thanking soldiers for their service, is hosting the Hot Rods and Heroes car show from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on April 28 at the University of North Georgia at 82 College Circle on their Oakwood campus in Gainesville.
All proceeds go to benefit Change 4 Georgia and the Winder Homeless Veterans Shelter.
Chance Brown, president of the Student Veterans Association at University of North Georgia and recipient of the first C4G scholarship and award for Extraordinary Effort Going Above and Beyond the Call of Duty, said "it is going to be a wide variety of cars and motorcycles."
Franks BBQ out of Houston will be on the scene with burgers, dogs, chicken and barbecue.
A family of four should be able to eat for $20.
Brown will be donating profits.
Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars USA, Ladies of the Red Hat Society, American Legion, Marine Corps League, Patriot Riders, local Masonic lodges and a few other organizations have all been invited to attend.
Change 4 Georgia will also be holding a car wash where all proceeds go toward student veteran scholarships at local colleges.
This event will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on May 5 at Chase Bank on 3695 Peachtree Parkway.
Change 4 Georgia started in 2011, with the IDEA of a 10-year-old:
