by Emme Raus
February 05, 2013
FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. – This Arbor Day, residents are being encouraged to add a little green to the county.
A limited quantity of free red bud or cedar tree seeds will be available at 9 a.m. on Feb. 16 at the Forsyth County Convenience Centers:
• Coal Mountain Convenience Center, 3560 Settingdown Road
• Old Atlanta Convenience Center, 3678 Old Atlanta Road
• Tolbert Street Convenience Center, 351 Tolbert Street.
Forsyth County Master Gardeners will be available to provide planting information and assistance to the public.
"Trees provide a lasting gift to future generations," said Tammy Wright, environmental program manager.
Residents interested must provide a brief description of the planned location for the tree.
Wright encourages participants to keep site supervisors updated on tree growth and even photos.
"[Trees] improve the surrounding area and are good for the environment," Wright said.
