JOHNS CREEK, Ga. Some of the best watercolorists in the Southeast will be bringing their most breathtaking work to Johns Creek for the second year in a row for the Georgia Watercolor Society Signature Members' Exhibition.

The event runs Jan. 26 through March 2 at the Johns Creek Arts Center. The center's Executive Director Gail Hisle said it is an honor for the Arts Center to host the Signature Members Exhibit. A signature member must have won at least three juried art shows to be invited into the Georgia Watercolor Society.

"So these are artists who have more than proven their worth. That means this exhibition will feature artists with simply exquisite talent showing their most recent work," Hisle said.

An opening reception is planned Saturday, Jan. 26, from 68p.m. for the artists.

"It is also provides wonderful exposure for the artists to show their work to a buying public," Hisle said.

Most of the paintings will be for sale, with prices ranging from mid-$300 to $1,200 and up.

The exhibition also helps put Johns Creek on the map as a venue for the higher-end arts.

"So it is a win-win for the Watercolor Society and the Arts Center. And that is important for us with our limited marketing budget," Hisle said.

Another beneficiary of this second collaboration of the Watercolor Society and the JCAC is the interest it generates for the art classes and programs JCAC offers, which promotes the artistic development for youths and adults in many different media painting, pottery, photography and more.

"We attract people who want to expand their knowledge and talents from the surrounding area as well Alpharetta, Duluth and Roswell," Hisle said.

The exhibition also gives focus to corporate donations, which are an important part of the Arts Center's well-being as well.

"It puts us in the spotlight, builds public awareness of what we are doing. And corporate funding allows us to offer affordable programs and exhibitions of quality art here," she said.
