December 11, 2012CUMMING, Ga. — Nicole and Charlie Bini spent seven years trying to conceive.
"It was a long road," Nicole Bini said, "but so worth it."
The Binis celebrate their son Tony's 12th birthday on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012.
"We have the first real live Beanie Baby," she said. "The stuffed animals were very popular in 2000, but we were blessed with the real thing."
Some consider birthdays like this lucky, but Tony Bini is taking it in stride.
"It's just another birthday," he said.
He said it's cool that he's only going to have this birthday once, because it won't happen again for another 100 years.
"I have friends who were born on Nov. 11, 2011 and I don't know of anything special happening to them, so I don't think it will for me, either," he said.
"You never know," Nicole Bini said. "He's had a good year so far."
Bini made the all-A Honor Roll at Lakeside Middle School and was one of five students picked as an ambassador for Rachel's Challenge, a foundation set up to honor Columbine victim Rachel Scott and equip students with the tools to stop bullying.
The sixth-grader plans to keep his birthday celebration low key though, with three friends and a trip to Andretti's, but his parents are buying lottery tickets just in case.
