FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Girls on the Run North Georgia, a nonprofit program designed to prepare girls in third through eighth grades "for a lifetime of self respect and healthy living," is taking registration for its 2013 groups.
Each group is limited to 15 girls.
The fees for the 10-12 week program are $165.
Groups meet two times per week for 75 minutes.
For 2013, scholarships are available and are made possible through a grant from United Way of Forsyth County.
The program combines training for a 3.1 mile run with self-esteem enhancing and uplifting workouts.
Each Girls on the Run season culminates in a 5K run where parents, coaches, teachers, families and friends gather to celebrate and support the runners.
This spring, Girls on the Run will join forces with the Boulder Dash 5K for their end-of-season run.
