ROSWELL, Ga. – The Roswell Library will host a special literary event featuring author Amanda McTigue on Monday, Dec. 3. McTigue's breakout novel, "Going to Solace" was released by Harper Davis this year.

From 4:30 – 5:45 p.m., McTigue invites local writers to join her in a discussion about her craft: "Welcoming Readers: Playing with Narrative Conventions for Readers Today." In a world in which reaching out to readers is often discussed as a function of marketing, McTigue shows how the writing itself can build new bridges to (or barriers for) intended readers with nuts-and-bolts principles and techniques.

From 6 – 7:30 p.m., McTigue will extend the event into a celebration of "Going to Solace," a story of comfort for comfortless times set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. She'll season readings with plenty of question-and-answers and good, old-fashioned "visiting."

A Yale graduate and longtime writer for the stage, McTigue has created characters in her new novel that are cast-able in readers' minds. It is but one approach she'll be discussing in this provocative evening of thinking and sharing.

The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are required. The Roswell Library is located at 115 Norcross Street in Roswell. For more information, call the Roswell Library at 770-640-3075.
