November 26, 2012 FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — With the start of the spring baseball season only months away, Forsyth County Parks and Recreation is partnering with South Forsyth High School baseball to offer two holiday camps to help keep players' skills ready for opening day.
Both camps, designed for athletes in the sixth through eighth grades, will be held at the South Forsyth High School Baseball Indoor Facility.
PITCHERS/CATCHERS CAMP
Parks and Recreation will offer an advanced-level camp for pitchers and catchers on Saturday, Dec. 29 from noon to 4 p.m. Players will work on improving mechanics through drills and conditioning. The camp will culminate in a live bullpen session. Pitchers must bring their own glove and spikes to the camp, while catchers must bring their own equipment. The cost is $100 for county residents and $125 for non-county residents.
HITTERS CAMP
Parks and Recreation will offer an advanced-level camp for hitters on Sunday, Dec. 30 from noon to 4 p.m. Players will learn the proper stance while utilizing video software to analyze every aspect of their swing. Using multiple drills and hitting competitions, players will incorporate their newly acquired skills into their swing. Players must bring their own bat. The cost is $100 for county residents and $125 for non-county residents.
Register for either camp at any of Forsyth County's three recreation centers, Central Park at 2300 Keith Bridge Road, Fowler Park at 4110 Carolene Way and Old Atlanta Park at 810 Nichols Road.
Registrations are accepted at the centers Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Registration will also be accepted online at www.forsythco.com/parks. For additional information, call 770-781-2215.
