November 21, 2012 ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The St. Francis Lady Knights middle school fast pitch softball team made school history Oct. 11 when they brought home the championship trophy from the MAAC tournament.
The school, as well as many other middle schools, met at the heart of metro Atlanta to face off against each other and claim the title of champion. Finally, there were only two schools left in the game.
In a championship game against Galloway School, the Lady Knights won 4-2. The girls played their hearts out and finished the season with an overall record of 8-1-1.
When the Lady Knights aren't competing at tournaments, they are encouraged to take advantage of the school's softball field to practice. The school even gives them an extra study hall period to facilitate the balance between the students' academic and athletic lives.
The softball team is made up of sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders.
