JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – The Johns Creek Symphony opened its 2012-13 season with a concert at the Johns Creek Arts Festival Oct. 27. The concert was made possible with grant funds provided by the Johns Creek Foundation.

"The symphony is honored to have the support of the Johns Creek Foundation, which makes possible for the community to hear the world's greatest music performed by some of the metro area's best professional musicians," JCSO Director J. Wayne Baughman said.

"The Johns Creek Foundation recognizes the need for great culture and art as an enhancement to the quality of life here in Johns Creek. We are delighted that we can play a major role in delivering these rich musical experiences to all of our area citizens."

Symphony Executive Director Sue Haggerty said the foundation's support has been vital to the symphony's success.

"Once again, we thank the Johns Creek Foundation for their support of the JCSO. They have focused on the need to support the arts in Johns Creek, and the results have been obvious and dramatic," Haggerty said. "When our mayor talks about what makes our community so special, he can proudly point to a professional symphonic orchestra based right here in Johns Creek. Now how many cities can claim that?"

Johns Creek Foundation Board member and Treasurer Lynne Riley said the foundation's goal is to support the efforts of organizations that raise the quality of life in the city.

"The Johns Creek Foundation values the presence of arts in the Johns Creek community. We are pleased that we have the opportunity to assist in bringing this performance to the residents," Riley said.
