JOHNS CREEK, Ga. Hot dog! The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is making a comeback for the sixth annual Johns Creek Founders Day Parade Dec. 1.

The 27-foot-long, 3-ton vehicle shaped like a frankfurter in a bun will make its third appearance in the parade celebrating the launch of the city of Johns Creek in 2006.

The Wienermobile was first introduced in 1936. The latest version has a GPS system, an audio center with a wireless microphone and a horn that plays the Oscar Mayer jingle in 21 versions.

There are six Wienermobiles, each covering a specific region of the country. The one visiting Johns Creek bears the license plate "Yummy." After the parade, visitors can check out the inside of the Wienermobile at Santa Jam, a community party at Johns Creek High School.

Other popular parade attractions this year include the Parris Island Marine Band, three mini racecars, the Regional Mustang, the Atholl Highlanders and the Atlanta Braves' Tomahawk Team, Heavy Hitters Drumline and Homer the Brave.

The Founders Day Parade caps a week of festivities that celebrates the city's 2006 incorporation. The parade has steadily grown in popularity. In 2011, the Georgia Tourism Commission sent its mascot Izo to communicate about the parade via social media.

Floats need to incorporate the theme "Traveling Thru the Creek," and may include any means of transportation, such as cars, trucks, boats, golf carts or even roller skates. Please remember that there's only one Santa, and he rides in a fire truck at the end of the parade.

The deadline for submitting applications for floats and other entries is Nov. 16.

If there is a more compelling reason to go to the Founders Day Parade, I don't know what it is. Yay Wienermobile!
