FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. — Forsyth County residents recycled more than 29,000 pounds of electronics during the Keep Forsyth County Beautiful electronics recycling event held Oct. 27.

During the event, a total of 240 cars arrived at the Cumming Fairgrounds off of Castleberry Road to drop off 29,128 pounds of electronics, including 195 monitors, 169 personal computers and 99 televisions.

"We appreciate the residents coming out and participating in the electronics recycling event," Environmental Program Manager Tammy Wright said. "We also want to thank all of the volunteers who helped at the event."

In addition to electronics recycling events such as the one held Oct. 27, electronics recycling is available to residents year-round at the Tolbert Street Recycling Center, located at 351 Tolbert Street.

The center is open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is closed on Sundays and county holidays.

Electronics accepted at the Tolbert Street Recycling Center include computers, keyboards, laptops, VCRs, cameras, phones and more.

A fee of $2 is charged for one item dropped off at the center; $4 for two items; and $5 for unlimited items.

There is an additional charge of $12 per television — no wooden consoles or projection televisions can be accepted.
