October 10, 2012 JOHNS CREEK, Ga. – Students and staff at Findley Oaks Elementary School in Johns Creek honored Chipper Jones on Friday, Sept. 28, as the retiring Braves player headed into his last round of regular home games.
The school's student council, which is made up of fourth- and fifth-graders, planned the tribute after several students commented on Jones' upcoming retirement. The halls and classrooms were filled with students and staff decked out in Braves apparel.
During the morning announcement television show, students watched a brief video celebrating Jones' career with the Braves. Later, the whole school took a "seventh-inning stretch" to sing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" in a final Findley Oaks send off for Chipper Jones.
