September 24, 2012 CUMMING, Ga. — A baseball team in Forsyth County is coordinating a donation of baseball equipment for children in Cebu, Philippines.
One of the 10U Sharon Springs Spartans' coaches, Lee French, went to Cebu this summer to help build an elementary school. While there, he was asked to conduct a baseball clinic for the children.
Now, French wants to outfit the Cebu team with baseball equipment that local children are no longer using.
French said this is a great way to teach children how to give back to those less fortunate. The Sharon Springs Spartans 10U Griffin team is coordinating donations of old baseball equipment at Sharon Springs' baseball field No.3, 1950 Sharon Road in Cumming, between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7.
