10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Roswell Town Square
South Atlanta St. and Marietta Highway
September 06, 2012ROSWELL, Ga. – The 2012 Roswell Arts Festival is back and better than ever. After all, 46 years means it's a tradition.
The only thing that is really new is its logo.
Drawing artists and artisans from throughout the Southeast, an array of fine arts, original crafts, festive foods and entertainment will fill the historic town square. As always, attendees will enjoy the beautiful and historic square, while meeting the artists, browsing and purchasing works of art at the signature festival that founded Roswell's reputation as an arts destination. Awards are presented to the artists in a variety of categories, and judging will not be an easy task.
This year, entertainment will be provided by a variety of groups and individual performing artists, including HERO – a national touring artist.
One of the entertainment highlights will be Justin Bieber and Katy Perry look-a-likes who are sure to please the younger set. Roswell's Southern rock band, Highway 92, will perform, and classic hits will be presented by Harms Way. Satin Alley will feature jazz, and dance performances will add to the festivities.
"One thing we want to remind people is that the funds raised by the recreation association – a completely volunteer organization – goes to fund things for recreation," said Roswell Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Dottie Etris.
Since 1966, more than $882,000 from the Roswell Arts Festival has supported recreation and parks in Roswell.
"Just look at the spray ground at the Chattahoochee. People think the city did that, but that park was funded by the recreation association through the money raised at the fall arts festival. A small band of volunteers have done remarkable things for the families of Roswell," Etris said.
The event is sponsored each year by the Roswell Recreation Association, a group that is dynamic in its fundraising efforts for the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department.
Founded in 1966, the Roswell Arts Festival Committee has worked tirelessly to bring quality artisans to Roswell for the benefit of the community and to raise money in support of the Roswell Recreation and Parks Department.
The Roswell Arts Festival has raised money for a variety of projects throughout its 46-year history, including funding for:
• the Roswell Visual Arts Center,
• Roswell's Riverside Park,
• Roswell Adult Recreation Center,
• the purchase of 63 acres of land that would later become Roswell Area Park,
• and recently shaded areas to add to enjoyment of the spray ground, to name just a few.
Free shuttle service is provided to the public from Roswell City Hall to Town Square Park. Additional information is available at www.roswellartsfestival.com.

Roswell Arts Festival launches new logo
ROSWELL, Ga. – The success of the Roswell Arts Festival has inspired the organizing committee to update the logo as they celebrate 46 years of art and community service.
"One of the things we wanted to do with the logo was emphasize the arts. Before, we always stressed being on the square. Well after all this time, people know that. It's time to remind folks about the arts," said Roswell Convention and Visitors Bureau Executive Director Dottie Etris.
Creating the logo was not an easy task and it had to be done in time to release in promotional materials for the 2012 festival. The committee wanted the logo to convey the vibrancy of the arts and capture the fun of the festival.
After several versions, the new logo was established and is now being showcased in many ways.
