JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" better watch out — the Johns Creek housewives are ready for their close up.

In a playful video posted on YouTube by johnscreekmama, a.k.a. Teresa Minnaugh, 16 women lip-sync and dance along to "Call Me Maybe," a song by Carly Rae Jepsen.

"I had been driving my kids around all summer and every time I turned on the radio, it's on," said Minnaugh in choosing the song.

Minnaugh had come up with the idea to show at her Medlock Bridge community's end-of-summer swim party, but because many of the moms were out of town, she held off on filming it and opted to post it on YouTube.

"I sent an email to a couple of my girlfriends and before I knew it, I had 16 women who were more than willing to do it," Minnaugh said.

Minnaugh makes a brief appearance in the video, but she's the one behind the camera.

This is not the first spoof video to make fun of the catchy pop song that has spawned dozens of YouTube parodies, including a recent viral performance by the 2012 U.S. Olympic Swim Team.

In the Johns Creek housewives video, the ladies can be seen doing things like driving their minivan (putting on their seatbelt first), doing their laundry, making peanut butter sandwiches, washing dishes and other domestic, routine housewife stuff.

Until the end of the video, when eight of the women perform a choreographed dance at a playground.

The video took about two weeks to make and edit and was posted on Tuesday, Aug. 14. By the next day, there were more than 4,000 views and a lot of laughs.

"It's really amateur," Minnaugh said. "It's a bunch of housewives with too much time on their hands. But it's resonating with people."

Their Facebook friends have liked it and shared it, and that is the ultimate approval.

The women are mostly stay-at-home moms, while some also work full time jobs. A couple have part-time jobs.

"All of us have kids and most drive minivans, not all of us. Some of us have cool SUVs," she joked.

The Medlock Bridge women call themselves "The Real Housewives of Johns Creek," but are obviously not associated with the Real Housewives reality television series that can be seen on the Bravo cable network. In that series, relatively affluent housewives are followed around their every train wreck.

"We are thinking of making the outtakes videos," Minnaugh said. "We even had a wardrobe malfunction. But that video is just for our personal use."
