August 15, 2012 JOHNS CREEK, Ga. — Some 30 restaurants will be showcasing their flavor and possibly competing to take home the title of the city's "best" in taste.
The fifth annual Taste of Johns Creek, hosted by Chattahoochee High School, is back from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 19.
The event takes place at the school, 5230 Taylor Road in Johns Creek. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
The event will feature food from local restaurants, live entertainment from local musicians and a Kids Zone as in the past.
Several local businesses will also be representing the community with info booths.
There will also be some exciting new additions to Taste of Johns Creek this year, said Stephanie Hillman, communications director of the CHS football booster board.
"Each year, we expand it," said Hillman, mother of three Chattahoochee Cougar athletes.
"This year, a Teen Zone with a dunk tank, football toss and basketball throw will be added."
In addition, food vendors can enter "best of" contests at the event.
Judges include Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker, Fulton County Board of Education member Katie Reeves and a representative from the Publix Apron Cooking School.
Four youth bands from Music Matters will perform.
Student athletes will host the annual event.
"This is a fundraiser where they take an active part," Hillman said.
Proceeds from the event will help the football team with uniforms, equipment and improvements to the stadium.
The girls' softball team and the cheerleaders will also receive funding. The football team was the 2011 region and 2010 AAAA state champions.
