July 11, 2012CUMMING, Ga. — For $25 each, up to 150 women could receive a makeover, facial, manicure and hand treatment as well as potentially take some prizes home — all while helping a good cause.
More than 200 Mary Kay representatives will give cosmetic treatments during the "Pampering with a Purpose" event at The Warehouse, 5095 Post Road in Cumming, on Friday, July 13. "Pampering with a Purpose" will be held to benefit FOCUS, a nonprofit organization that helps families with children who have physical and mental needs.
Jen Dicello inspired Mary Kay representatives to organize the fundraiser by sharing the story of her daughter, Jordan, who suffered from epilepsy, cortical blindness and cerebral palsy.
Jordan died at the age of 14.
Deb Herota, a consultant for Mary Kay, will head the event.
"[Jen] wanted to do something for the moms who are fighting for their kids," Herota said. "So we started organizing this event to raise money to be a special something for the moms involved in FOCUS."
FOCUS works with families through support groups, hospital visits and workshops.
Herota called "Pampering with a Purpose" a "Girls' night out." All proceeds will go to mothers in FOCUS. The 200 local Mary Kay representatives plan to match the ticket proceeds as well.
The Detail Decorator will spruce up The Warehouse and Dove Chocolate Discoveries will give a complimentary chocolate tasting. Several other sponsors on site will be Cool Bees Artwork and Gifts, Creative Memories and Clever Container.
"When you put together a charity event, it's just amazing who comes forward," Herota said. "We are going to pamper these women."
