Johns Creek, Ga. — Ocee Library will be holding a seminar on Feb. 16 for seniors interested in maximizing their retirement income.
Participants at the seminar will learn the answers to the follow questions:
*Will Social Security be there when they retire?
*How much can they expect to receive?
*When should they apply for Social Security?
*How can they maximize their benefits?
*Will Social Security be enough to live on in retirement?
After being told for years that Social Security is "going broke," baby boomers are realizing that it will soon be their turn to collect. But decisions made now can have a tremendous impact on the total amount of benefits one stands to receive over one's lifetime.
Participants will learn the the factors to consider when deciding when to apply for benefits:
*When it makes sense to delay benefits -- and when it does not
*Why one should always check one's earnings record for accuracy
*How to estimate benefits
*How to coordinate benefits with one's spouse
*How to minimize taxes on Social Security benefits
*How to coordinate Social Security with your other sources of retirement income
