October 29, 2012 On September 22, 2012, as part of the 22nd annual North Fulton Rivers Alive event, an army of 298 enthusiastic volunteers devoted their Saturday morning to cleaning up the Chattahoochee River and surrounding areas in Alpharetta and Roswell. There were families, scout troops, service groups, and individuals. Volunteers worked tirelessly all morning, removing litter and debris, helping with planting and mulching projects, pulling privets, and participating in storm drain awareness projects. By 11 am, one and a half TONS of garbage and debris had been removed from the Chattahoochee River and surrounding areas. Community partners, including Super Target, Roswell Kiwanis, Windward Rotary Club, Ecological Solutions, Starbucks, and the Alpharetta, Roswell, and Sandy Springs Chick-Fil-A restaurants, donated time, food and drink, and supplies. Their contributions are very much a part of making this event happen.
Thank you to every Rivers Alive volunteer and business partner! Your efforts helped to clean and beautify our water source and the critical habitats that protect it. We look forward to seeing you all at next year's North Fulton Rivers Alive event.
