January 08, 2013DAHLONEGA, Ga. — North Georgia College and State University was named to Kiplinger's "best value" list.
This marks the third year the university makes the personal finance list of 100 best values in public colleges in the nation (2010, 2012 and 2013).
North Georgia is one of only three public universities in Georgia to be named to the magazine's list. The others are the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech.
"This ranking reflects our commitment to providing students throughout the region with access to a high-quality, affordable education," said Dr. Bonita Jacobs, president of North Georgia College and State University. "We are very proud to be included on this list again, as it is a testament to North Georgia's position as a leading institution in the University System of Georgia and nationally."
Kiplinger's assesses quality according to a number of measurable standards, including the admission rate, the percentage of students who return for sophomore year, the student-faculty ratio and the four-year graduation rate.
Cost criteria include low tuition, abundant financial aid and low average debt at graduation.
