CUMMING, Ga. – The South Forsyth Competitive Robotics Team is having a great year.

In April, the robotics team will aim to build the most innovative robots possible and work together for the most points at the VEX World Championship Tournament being held at the ESPN Wide World of Sport Center at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla.

Earlier this school year, the team posted a top 10 finish at the Boost Engineering Science and Technology (BEST) Robotics Challenge at Southern Polytechnic University in Marietta.

On Feb. 5, the team traveled to Dutchtown High School to compete in the VEX Qualifier tournament. Not only did the SFHS students win the tournament, they were also awarded the Judges Award for Excellence. Flush with their success, said the team's coach Nick Crowder, the SFCRT went to Grayson High School on Feb. 12, for a 33-team tournament.

The SFCRT took home tournament champions honors.

These victories have qualified the robotics team for the Orlando competition.

In addition, the team will compete March 5 at Lambert High School and at the Technology Student Association State Conference from March 10-12 in Athens.

The students are all enrolled in the Engineering Academy at South Forsyth High School, which focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Education.
