Vickery Creek Viper teammates have had payback on their mind since they were defeated by the Riverwatch Golden Panthers for the middle school County Championship last season.
In spite of a contest riddled with turnovers by both clubs, the Vipers once again strode into their locker room victorious after a vengeful battle of wills with the big cats ultimately going down 18-6.
Riverwatch proved to be no timid feline treading lightly upon the newly mown turf of the Viper Pit.
After the Panthers suffered a surprise strike by the Viper air attack on the very first play of scrimmage, and yet another score early in the second quarter, the Golden Panthers clawed back with their own air show via a deep pass downfield for 6 drawing within one touchdown of Vickery Creek.
But retaliation was still being muttered in the huddle of the Vipers and the dogged group overcame some costly errors to put the cats outside for good.
