Storms brought high winds and hail to North Fulton and Forsyth Counties late Tuesday, April 3 and early Wednesday, April 4.

Fallen trees and blown patio furniture was a common sight for many motorists, most of whom had to wait in heavier than usual traffic to get to work.

Crystal Buchanan, a spokeswoman for the Georgia Department of Transportation, said that Medlock Bridge was the only road in North Fulton closed for storm damage.

Carla Birnbaum is a Johns Creek resident who was caught in the traffic following the Medlock Bridge closure. She said her normal 30 minute commute to Consumer Source Publishing in Norcross took over an hour and 15 minutes.

"They were turning people around at State Bridge, making you go left or right. No one could go South," she said. "There were no signs until right there, but I guess I could have listened to the radio – it's always somebody else's fault," Birnbaum joked.

Forsyth County escaped relatively unharmed, said Captain Jason Shivers of the Fire Inspector General's Office.

"There's nothing really extravagant to report," said Shivers. "We had hail damage throughout the county, but nothing we responded to. Some heavy rains, but no damage to structures."
